Support

Installing, activating and uninstalling, on macOS and Windows, and the problems people actually run into.

Installing

macOS

Run the installer and choose the formats your hosts use. It puts the VST3 in /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/VST3 and the Audio Unit in /Library/Audio/Plug-Ins/Components.

The installers are signed with an Apple Developer ID and notarised, so macOS opens them without a warning.

Windows

Run the installer. It puts the VST3 in C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3, where every VST3 host looks.

Install one copy only: use either the Suite or a plug-in's own installer, not both.

Activating

[ACTIVATION: how a licence key is entered, and what happens on a computer that is offline. To write once licensing is built.]

Uninstalling

macOS

Delete the plug-in's .vst3 and .component from the two folders above.

Windows

Uninstall it from Settings, Apps, as any other program.

[CHECK: where presets live on each platform, and whether uninstalling keeps them.]

Problems

Windows warns before running the installer

The Windows installers are not code-signed yet, so Windows may stop and ask before running one. Choose More info, then Run anyway.

[Remove once the Windows installers are signed.]

Logic Pro does not show the plug-in

Logic loads Audio Units only, so the Audio Unit has to be installed. If it is and the plug-in still does not appear, open Logic's Plug-in Manager and rescan it.

An Audio Unit installed by hand never appears

A symlinked Audio Unit is never found: macOS does not follow the link, and there is no error. Use the installer, or copy the bundle itself into the Components folder.

The host does not see the VST3

Check that the host scans the VST3 folder above, then have it rescan its plug-ins.
